Name that swingarm!
I have found a rear swingarm for sale in Germany that has aparently sat on a modified GS1000S. I can tell that it isn't the usual 82-83 gs1100 swingarm that people use to allow more modern wider wheels to be mounted, so my question is, does anyone have a guess as to what it is off? It looks like it is a monoshock arm that has had twin shock mounts welded on it. The end result of this question asking is me figuring out if I can use it on my 1000S without modding the frame...
Any help is greatly apreciated!

It does look like a Bandit, but from the pic I cant see the adjusteres to see if it looks like Joe and my Bandit 1200 arsm. And Joe I dont know the diff between 600 and 1200 anyway.
Considering these run about $500+ from catman incluidng the tophat spacers that appear to be in the pivot (see tape) If you can snag it for $150-$200 that would be a great deal.
Remember the rear mounts are for eye to eye shocks so you will either need to convert that for a clevis to retain your own shocks or get a different shock that has the eye to eye. Generally going a little longer helps handling as well as well. On mine my shocks SU-145's are adjustable from about 340-360 mm v.s. the stock 330 mm.
Another thing, the positioning of the mounts (fore aft) may have bee nset to get a proper race ride adjustment so ask the seller what shock length he was usng as a good starting point. If he doesnt know I can take measurements of the location of my mounts as Katman set them up. One last thing there can be clearance problems between the shock and chain but if this was already setup with 17" wheel then it was sorted.
Looked again it looks like maybe thos YSS piggybacks. See if you can grab them also.Last edited by posplayr; 12-17-2009, 12:32 PM.
