    Model ID needed

Hi guys, I have a 1979 GS750. On the neck of the frame, it says GS750E-xxxxx then numbers. I know there are quite a few models of the 750 built in 79'. How do I find out exactly which one I have E, EN, EIEIO? I need to start ordering parts soon to put her back together (doing a total resto.) and Bikebandit has separate pages for the different 79' 750 models. Thanks a million.

EN. I'm pretty sure the E designates the 16valve engine.

          A 1979 GS750 Spoke wheel single disk front brake is a GS750N.
          A 1979 GS750 Mag wheel dual disk front brake is a GS750EN.
A 1979 GS750 Mag wheel dual disc front brake with a teardrop tank, pull back bars, stepped seat and chrome rear fender is a GS750LN.
I just happen to have one of each. Dar

I have the same bike..As i understand things, Suzuki put the designation as the first part of the VIN...GS750e-xxxx as you stated. If it just has an E then its an E model. If it was an EN then it would be gs750EN-xxx. see the keepers section and call the number i sent to the admin about manuals.. doesnt hurt to make a call. Listen to the entire automated list, make your selection, then ask away..Chuck

I could be wrong, I don't know the 750s very well.

16 valve didn't come until 1980. That would be a GS750ET. This doesn't have to be this confusing! A spoke wheel model is a GS750. A Mag Wheel model is a GS750E. The cruiser(stepped seat) model is a GS750L. The B-C-N-T designates the year code 77-78-79-80 respectably. This is all covered on this site. Dar

                    Yes this! Listen to Dar.

The first letter after the numbers is the MODEL code - typically E/L/G/T or nothing. The spoke wheel model bikes don't have a MODEL code, so tere is NO C or N model, those letters represent the YEAR code (see below).

Second letter is typically the YEAR code.

There are exceptions to this scheme, such as the GL model, but the last letter always represents the year.

The engines are the same, to me a "motor" is an electrical device.

Then why are they called motorcycles and not enginecycles? Dar

Good one. Not sure. But that still doesn't change the fact that electric MOTORS are always "motors", and ships, automobiles, and motorcycles have ENGINES.

Not to be confused with a a train engine. The "train engine" is powered by an "electric motor" that is powered by a "generator" that is powered by a "combustion engine". Now I'm confused !!!!!
