Bar swap.. what shorter cables to use?

Getting a euro style bar for my 79 GS550L - need shorter cables.

Saw in another post someone mentioned using 82GS550MZ cables, but they are discontinued.

    Any other options?

Anybody know how short the E cables are compared to the L cables from the same year?

Try www.motionpro.com they are an aftermkt. co. that has most cables on the shelf, and will make custom cables to your specs. Worth a shot, they should know the ins & outs of what you need. Just my opinion.

compare the new bars you want to a standard model you want to change to and get the same OE cables
      1978 GS1085.

Just remember, an opinion without 3.14 is just an onion!

Cables show as still available from PartShark.com and Alpha-Sports.com

What makes you think they are discontinued?

        Part# 58300-47701 Desc CABLE,THROTTLE

        Part# 58200-47700 Desc CABLE,CLUTCH

Edit: this throttle cable won't work on a VM carb'ed bike. Didn't think about this when posting the part numbers.

Actually, that throttle cable won't work since you have VM carbs. Check the throttle cables for a '79 GS1000S. They will be shorter than your current throttle cable(s) and that model had VM's.
