Headlight Bulb

Hello,
Which bulb I use for my 80' GS450? Will the Sylvania Silverstar H4ST work for my bike too?
The manual specifys 12v 35/35w.

That bulb would be fine. Many of us are using the automotive equivalent which I think is cheaper.

Good point about the type of headlamp!

If you have a sealed beam that measures 7" diameter, JC Whitney sells H4 assemblies that use a replacable bulb. I put one on a 550 and it worked well.

oh, so I cant just replace a bulb-i have to replace the whole headlight peice?

or you can pry the bulb out of the reflector and jimmy a new one in there by gently bending the tabs back over the new bulb (after you snap off that big goofy aluminum housing that is spot-welded on to make it fit into a car). I've replaced my bulb with the car equivalent a few times this way and a replacement bulb is small enough to carry a spare in my tail cowling glove box.
Be sure to not touch the new bulb, or clean it well before it is installed because the natural oils on your hand can compromise the integrity of the bulb when it heats up.

One day I'm sure those tabs will break off and I'll replace the whole thing, but until then I will replace with what is convenient.

I found a headlight and a spare for 20 dollars at a junkyard.

i found a used headlight on ebay, its for a 1983 GS450 Automatic .Anybody know if this is the same headlights as my 80'GS450? Would it fit? Thanks,

If not .. I will guess you could make it work.

I would consider looking for a headlight from a bigger Suzuki .. for the halogen bulb feature.

May have to bend your mounting tabs a little .. but I would say yes

Then .. any parts store will have a spare for you .. and they will be brighter than your sealed beam ever will.

i picked up a sylvania enclosed headlight from autozone, but i didnt fit-it was way to big. is there a replacement some where that will fit a 80' GS450?

You need to post up in the parts wanted section of the forum ..

Pull your entire headlamp assy and replace with one from a bigger bike.

Someone will be along to show you new aftermarket lights available too.
