Squeaky Front Wheel

Hello,
Ever since I had my GS450 the frontwheel has squeaked when I roll it around. Im not sure how to go about eliminating this noise, the brakes seem to work fine and I dont know whast causing this,
Any suggestions?

Take the wheel off the bike and figure out what's squeaking. Check wheel bearings and speedo drive gear, only other parts are in the brake system.

I put some new compound (I forget what the compound is called) EBC pads on my 84 Kat 750 several months ago. Worked about as well as the "old" EBC or Tuf-Stop stuff, but then started squeaking like all he!!. I thought my wheel bearings were bad, but turned out to be those lousy pads.

I realized theirs a rough part and as the wheel passes though the brake is when the squeaking happens. I dont know why, it doesnt feel or look like it would be a big deal, but the squeaking only happens ans this 4" area passes through the brake.

Sounds like a tweaked rotor to me. As you spin the wheel do you see any lateral (side to side) motion on the rotors?

thanks. It seems to spin fine-i cant see any wobbly movement,

actually, now that Im looking at it-the alignment seems off. The wheel is off set from the handlebars little to the left. Is this something I could fix?Or do I need to take it to a shop? Thanks,

Do you mean the handlebars don't align squarely with the front wheel?

If so, easy fix

yeah-when the handlebars are facing staright forward, the wheel is a slightly pointing to the left. Thanks,

That you can fix.

Loosen the clamps on the triple trees, make your adjustment, make sure everything is in a relaxed position, clamp everything back tight. You might want to support the front of the engine/frame to make sure the bike does not drop on the fork tubes if you go too loose on the clamps.

I use Steve's method, but I adjust by putting the tire next to the garage door jamb and pushing the handle bar in the direction you want it to go for alignment

So, in your case, put the left side of the wheel next to the left door jamb and push forward on the right handlebar until aligned

Then tighten

Hmm. tweaked front end and a damaged rotor, any other signs of how badly it was crashed?

You may need a new rotor. Someone's selling a bunch of stuff for 450s in the marketplace
