    78 GS750 airbox fitment interchange

I had the pleasure of meeting up with Steve yesterday. We had a nice cold day in Florida. He brought the weather with him. I certainly gleaned some worthwhile tidbits of info from him. I even learned how to properly use the centerstand.

Nice to see the goldwing. My kids loved all the lights

We worked on trying to tune my carbs some more. I have not been able to get them right. We got it closer but if I can't get it right I may try and get a stock airbox and tune them for that and my 4 in 1 instead of the pods.

I was looking at some airboxes. I saw one on ebay for a 79 850. Does anyone know if this will fit? Or if any others will fit? The numbers on the fiche are just slightly different.

    Thanks.

As you mentioned, the numbers are slightly different, not sure if the box itself is different enough to prevent its use.

Looking at the cross-reference chart at Babbitt's, the part number for your bike's airbox is shared by all non-L 750s up through '79.
No mention was made of the 850.

However, many of the airboxes I have seen on 850s, 1000s and 1100s (all shafties, by the way), were stamped with all the displacements, leading me to believe that they might be similar enough to use.

Would be nice to find someone that has had both side by side. I dont mind buying one if I am pretty sure it will work. The one for the 850 looked like it was in great shape.

At my house yesterday. Steve braved the cold (at least cold for Florida) to come over. He even test drove my 750. It was half of his bike

Hey, it was plenty cold, even by oHIo standards.

It was in the mid-40s on the way over there, just before noon, but only mid-30s on the way back "home" to the hotel.

And it was 27 on the way to work this morning.

          850 # same on partshark as 750

On Partshark when I printed out the parts fiche and diagram, it listed part 1 (whole airbox) with the same number. Even though you can't buy it.

On Alpha it shows a different number but then when you click on it it shows the same number as the 750.

So I think it is the same.
