    Left or Right????

OK, I'm working on a 81 GS-850 GLX. My question is how do you tell the differance in the right or left side boots that go from the carbs to the air box? I didn't find any markings on the boots. I got the bike with pods on it, but want to go back to original. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think there's a lot of difference from the carbs to airbox, but I could be wrong (I think I was once before, just can't remember that far back..), and I thought this was another political thread, then I saw neither Cbxchris or Bert had posted on it.....

I'll agree. Don't think there is a left or right with those boots. The boots from the head to the carbs, do have a left and right.

Well, I will have to respectfully disagree.

Alpha did not show any difference, but Babbitt's definitely shows two different part numbers,
and the descriptions are for "HOSE, LH" and "HOSE, RH". Part numbers 11 and 12.

        11 ...SKU: 13881-45030 .....HOSE, RH .....$9.53
        12 ...SKU: 13882-45030 .....HOSE, LH ....$9.53

I got some for Christmas for the GK, I'll look at them when I get home.

I've had those in and out on the 750 and I sure couldn't tell any difference between them. But, honestly I didn't inspect them that closely.

            I concur with Steve...

And if you look at the part list from CMSNL, they have photo's which clearly show they are marked L and R

There is a slight difference in the carb to airboots on my 82 850. The boots have a slight offset that is barely noticable unless you look for it and you then have to "spin them" slightly for the best fit to the back of the carbs on re-assembly. Fortunately I have more than one similar bike so I can refer to the other one for odd stuff like this.

Thanks guys. I see that there should be a big L or R on the boots. Unfortunately they are wore off . So I guess it's trial and error or order new ones.

The carb to air box boots should have a small indentation that lines up with an indentation on the airbox
