    81 GS550L Intake Boots?

Can anyone tell me what years and models shared the same intake boots as the 81 GS550L? I noticed that mine are coming apart where the rubber meet the aluminum. I don't want any leaks.

    Thanks, Bill

Looks like they are still available OEM.

Make sure you order the rubber o-rings that go between the boots and the head. I didn't and had to wait longer for them to come in to. Thought no problem at first as I work in an automotive parts shop but everything we carry is too thick. Also a good time to replace those nasty pot metal screws with some nice stainless.

Yes, they are indeed available OEM, but let's answer his question.

Major, if you go to any of the online parts suppliers except Bike Bandit, you will see that they use real Suzuki part numbers. Alpha Sports has one of the better look-up engines, but, unfortunately the HIGHEST prices (by a large margin, by the way). Find your part numbers, then go to either Babbitt's or Motogrid, enter the number in their reverse search feature and you will see ALL of the bikes that part is used on. In your case, the intake boots were used on the 550s and 650s from 1980 and up.

Ian makes a good point for getting the o-rings and screws, but you can get them better, faster and cheaper from GSR member Robert Barr. He also sells o-ring kits for the carbs. If you have not refreshed your carbs with new o-rings and a good cleaning, this would be a dandy time to do it. Contact Robert at cycleorings.com.

Oh, when you go to order your intake boots, remember that you will need two LEFT boots and two RIGHT boots, they are not the same.

Also, for your browsing pleasure, here is my personal list of online suppliers. Not all of them have everything, but they are on the list because they have something good to offer. In general, the best deals will be from PartShark, Babbitt's and Cycle Parts Nation. Sometimes the difference is in the shipping charges, so shop carefully.

              Yeah, mistakes happen.

Enjoy it while you can, but don't get used to it, it doesn't happen all the time.
