Fuel, electrics, broken baffle or airleaks. Anyone else want to add to the list.

improper throttle control. There may be no mechanical problem at all.

these carbs have no accellerator pump so you have to roll into it slowly and wait for the vacuum to build

the bike is not just going to ROAR when you stab into it.

get it going W.O.T. and pull the choke if it dies put smaller main jets in it, if it surges with more power put bigger main jets in it.

Have you added pods or changed exhaust? Changed anything at all?
        Rebuilt the carbs?

Sounds like a main jet to me.

I agree with the main jet theory above, but also think it can be a number of things.

Keep in mind these CV carbs are a little slow to respond between the slow and fast carb circuits. At least that was always my experience. Both my bikes with CV carbs and pretty much stock jetting would not go from mild idle to WOT without a little lag time. But once it wound up it was smooth.

Does this happen only when going from real slow to WOT, or does it happen when you are at partial throttle? Both? How does it respond to throttle when you are running it only on the main?

Yep, that has always been my experience.

my 850 used to do that really bad. it would almost die when slamming it wide open. after i sealed up the airbox and top of the airfilter with weather stripping it stopped. it would only hesitate when it was cold from then on out.

If I read this correctly, the only real change from stock was the exhaust? I would think that a 140 Main would be too rich for your set up. Not sure what you would need, guessing 125 at best. Raising needle one notch is probably okay.

What color are your spark plugs after running wide open? Do a plug chop and see what they look like.
