    Signal generator swap?

Maybe a dumb question wondering if the very expensive black igniter box will swap out from a 80 750e to 85 700es?

I looked at this before... it's a different part number. (Did you buy that 750 one on Ebay recently??). Physically the connection appears to be the same. (99.9% sure it will plug in ok).

I suspect the difference is in the advance curve although between these two engines it can't be a lot of difference I would think (although the 700 does run more aggressive cams supposedly).

I also wondered if the 82/83 1100 or 1150 box would work. The 1100 box should be much easier to get hold of. Again I suspect they would but advance curve will be different.

Looking at the Dyna 2000 instructions it has a couple of 8v & 16v advance maps as standard & seems to suggest that any of them will work on the right number of valve engine but you can tailor for best power, throttle response, economy etc.

One from an '83 850 is exactly the same unit.

I actually am considering parting out the 80 750 that I have and thought I would give it a try if its compatible. I have just recently experienced some electrical issues on the 700 and I have about narrowed it down to the igniter. I also have a new used set of coils to swap out as well to see if that solves anything.

Yeah finding one is the problem, before I spend ridiculous money on the OEM part I will by a new dyna and be done.

The 700 has the advance curve built into the ignitor but the '80 750 uses a mechanical advance unit so NO, the units are not interchangeable.
