Fork Diameter?

Hi all,

Anybody know the diameter of the front forks used on the '80-'83 GS850's?

I'm reasonably certain that the fork diameter for all years of the 850 is 37 mm

How do you measure the fork diameter? Is it just the outside diameter of the male/upper tube? I measured that, and it looks to be about 35mm. Not from an 850 maybe?

35 sounds right for a '79 my '78 and '79 750's had that diameter. It is possible that the later 850's had 37mm forks, my '81 Katana 1100 has 37's.

36.92 mm is what I just measured my forks at, on my '80 GS850L. That would put the forks at 37mm "nominal" size.
