    Hi-Performance Cams

Does anyone know where I can get Hi-Performance Cams for my 1978 GS1000 rebuild? I plan on using a Weisco 1100 piston kit.
Things I have done so far:
    Purchased 29mm Smoothbore Carburators
Re-worked head to include Heavy Duty Valve Springs, New valves, Guides and complete Port and Polish (Completed by Russell Performance).
    Dyna-S Ignition
    Ricks Stator

I want cams that will pull strong throughout the powerband, with maybe a little extra emphasis on top end. I also plan on having Cooper Performance weld the crank for me. Any help would be appreciated.

WELCOME Aboard aerialdrop and please post some pics of what you are doing. 0.395" 8V cams seem to be a popular choice for the street.

P.S. What kinda aerialdrop we talking about??? I used to be in that line of business

Thanks for the reply. I see Tarbash 27 posted a link for me to look at, and I will check that in a minute. I am in the Army Airborne (Jumpmaster), and hold a cilivilin Skydive rating as well. I jump a Triathlon 175 main out of a Javelin J3 container on the civilian side. Just one of my many other loves as well as motorcycles. I used to ride newer sportbikes, but I am tired of seeing everbody on one...so I decided to build my own old school. I have stripped it down to the frame and had that powder coated, and have polished out just about everything I can. It's just a bunch a pieces right, but it is a work in progress. Thanks for the info, and I will post some pics as soon as I get a chance!

Thanks; I used to work with SSE the guys that made the waterproof altimeters. U know Roger Allen?

www.megacyclecams.com has a pretty good selection - several different grinds for the 8 valve bikes..

Know the name. I've seen it in USPA publications I believe. I also do a lot with Rigging for Airdrop and some maintenance for Reinactment Teams.

get the 1085 kit it's safer for the street use as it leaves the cylinder walls thicker and less likely to warp if your gonna go to a 1100 then bore the cylinders out and put thicker 1100 sleeves in to be on the safe side

thanks for the complements on the bike
the mechanic that i have and use for the work that i can't do is a friend and a GS1000 drag racer he reccommended to me the same thing about the 1085 vs 1100 kit for those reasons and also if you do wind up having trouble then you still have the option of going to the 1100 kit before resleving your cylinders

Not bad...but I actually thought it would be a little more than that. I was hoping to get some where around 130hp after I finish everything. And I am assuming you have aftermarket header, cams, and K&N intakes/filters?
