    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Slightly improved valve adjust spreadsheet.

Steve

GS Whisperer
Not exactly a technical question, but I have just sent out the first few updates to my valve adjust spreadsheet. :dancing:

In the previous version, it would only suggest a single shim size different, no matter how far off it was. The new version will suggest up to SIX sizes, making it easier to use that really small "checking shim" that you have tucked away for when you get a 'new' bike. Raising the limit to six sizes has only been in the loose direction because, let's face it, if it's too tight, there is no way to tell how far the valve is being held open. Your best bet here is still to see if the bucket and shim will rotate when the cam lobe is not pushing on the valve. If they can rotate, one shim size will likely be enough. If they can't, it will probably be two or more, so just get out your "checking shim".

Sorry, I have not figured out how to automatically transfer information from version 3 to version 4, so you will have to transfer it all yourself.

So far, I have 294 registered users and they live in 13 countries. :-\\\

If you have already received a copy, you will automatically be getting your new copy in the next few days. If you have not gotten one yet, follow the directions at the bottom of my signature to request one. Please don't send a PM request, even if you include your e-mail address. It only slows down the process. If you have a previous version and don't get this new version in the next few days, I'll try to contact you on the board to see if your e-mail address has changed.

Cool beans Steve. Thanks!

Thank you for your indulgence,

I got mine

I got mine

Thanks Steve,

I got mine this morning,
this means that Belgium is one of those 13 countries...

best regards

Gert

Yes, indeed it is.

The entire list:
Australia
Belgium
Canada
England
Luxemborg
Mexico
New Zealand
Scotland
South Africa
Sweden
United Kingdom (is this different from "England"?)
United States

Ooops. That's only 12. Hope the spreadsheet works better than my simple counting ability. :D

EDIT: Maybe that should read "12 countries and ONE state of confusion."

I knew there were several countries in the Kingdom, but did not know if there was any specific place
that was simply known as "UK" as some of my registered users have only given that as a location.

I guess that would be like many of us saying "North America", and not specifying whether it's USA or Canada. :-k

Guatemala, Central America.
