    Speedometer Gear Ratio

Just wondering if 2240:60 is pretty much standard for most 70's japanese bikes? The reason I ask is I'm making a trip out to my favorite junkyard in a few days. They have piles and piles of old speedos from all manner of 70's bikes. Some of the more interesting ones, don't have any markings so to speak to identify what bike make/model/year they came off of. I would love to get one of these unique gauges for me 77 gs 550 build up, just want to make sure it will more likely than not be compatible. Thanks!

The ratio is at the wheel.

pos is right it cant be the case if you think about it, for example a 19" wheel with one gear ratio at the wheel will require a speedo suited to that ratio to show the correct speed & given the same 19" wheel with the same rolling dia but with a different gear ratio suited to a different speedo ratio the shown speed will be incorrect

this bit is only from memory but it think suzuki & kwak use the same wheel ratio but different fittings & honda use a different ratio all together ( dont know about yamahahahah)
