    gas cap ?

I posted for a replacement cap and key for my 550es.
    no responses so far.
question is what other caps will work. the tank is off a 1983 550es. does not have the flap that lifts up to gain access to where the key goes. much like a cap off my old katana 1000 or 83 1100e.

please help I am ready to put the fuel petcock on and will need a cap asap.

      Part#20-0030 $15

Of course, the minimum order is $35 (+$5 s/h in USA) so you'll have to add some other stuff to your cart. Maybe a valve cover gasket for your next valve adjust? Keys will be different from yours but at least you get 2 (I just keep one under the seat and one @ home).

Honestly I make my own gaskets... the material is dirt cheap and it is not hard to make one... I would find something else to add...and if you really want you can probably get a locksmith to switch the lock out probably for not much money. Extra keys are really a pita

thanks so much for the link. I have never heard of them before. Any experience with them? How are they?

My interaction with them has been pretty limited. Obviously their parts selection is limited. They did ship pretty quickly and they use fed ex 3 day IIRC. I bought the other gas cap for my gs and the quality seems good, had it for just a few months though. We'll see how it does with time. Did think about buying an AGM battery from them but when I sent in a question (b/c my bike isn't using OEM size batt and they didn't show standard size codes) they weren't particularly helpful. But if they've got what you need cheap and you're certain it will work why not give them a shot?

Oh, BTW - if you were thinking about oil filters as padding I'll mention that they're emgo brand (not sure of oil filter quality but the emgo pods don't have a good rep - my bike hasn't died yet though) and don't come with replacement o-rings for the cover. Gaskets are Athena brand. Most have had good luck with them. My Athena head gasket is seeping oil but that's probably my fault for not re-torquing frequently enough the first few times I ran it. The other gaskets are holding up fine.

Any of the sites I checked do not show the gas cap gasket as a separate item.

The side cover grommets are found in the "Frame Cover" fiche:
                      09320-08018 Cushion, Frame
Price is about $2.00 at any of what should be your favorite suppliers:
