    Leaky oil lines

    Hi all,

    The external oil lines feeding the head on my 83' TSCC 550 are weeping oil. I'm pretty sure it's not the crimps on the fittings, I'm positive it's not the washers on the banjo fittings. My best conclusion is the oil is simply oozing through the 27 year old rubber hose.

    It's kind of hard to tell because there is a "spring" wrapped around the outside of the hose. Whenever I clean the oil off the hoses, I'll check quite frequently for evidence of the start of the leak. When I do see oil, it's like someone has whiped the hoses with an oily rag. There is no "start" to the leak.

    So here's the issue. Not available from Suzuki. The closest thing so far I can have made is smaller in ID than what is on there and that's from Parker Hydraulics. Don't know where to get new oil lines...........

    Do any of you Super-Guru guys know if I can use lines from a different year or model?

    They are available from Suzuki in the States, not in Canada. If you can get fittings, you can make them but they will cost you somewhere around $200

        What about making your own? Here's a link to a site that sells all the parts. Lots of us here make our own SS brake lines - don't know why you couldn't use the same stuff, although I'm not certain of the oil line size.

        We all use the speed-flex hose (-3 size) and speed-seal fittings (-3 size banjos)

                I contacted anplumbing, the problem with the top end oil lines on the 750 is the top fitting is an 8mm banjo with a 15degree offset, and the bottom is a 10mm banjo with a 15 degree offset (not sure if they are the same on the 550) but the 8mm with a 15 offset is not available and the 10mm doesn't come with that offset, it is straight or 30 so anplumbing said they couldn't help me out.
                I am not sure you could use the straight on the top, it might interfere with the carbs, but the 30 should be ok for the bottom.
                Also I was warned away from using a 10mm in place of the 8mm, I didn't think it would matter if new crush washers were used the fitting would not be able to migrate and the shoulders of the bolt and the block are larger than 8mm

                  you should re-anneal the sealing washers with a propane torch.

                  this will expand the material and revive the sealing properties of the part.

                  this works on copper and aluminum sealing gaskets and washers.
                  SUZUKI , There is no substitute

                    There have been a number of guys with this same problem on their 750’s. At least one of the guys found a local hydraulic hose shop to make them up some new lines so you may want to explore this option.
