Borescope users?
Anyone use a borescope? how did it work, was it valuable to you? Which one do you have? They seem cool, but I don't need more expensive dust collectors.Tags: None

I bought a simple borescope (can't check make/model right now) with a max diameter that is able to pass through the spark plug holes.
It's quite handy, it does it job if ypu want to check that the piston/valves are still there but, using the included mirror in the combustion chamber provides a very narrow view.
Of course it's a dust collector, I only keep it handy in case I lose a screw or something down the camchain tunne l or so...
Kinda like that biiig cutting wheel you only need once every second year or so, but when needed it's really apppreciated

Thanks for the reply I had given up hope! Is the one you have a clear enough view to be able to judge cylinder wall and valve seat condition? I guess that is why I would want one.

Cylinder walls maybe, but remember that the built in light comes from the same angle as your view, there won't be much shades in any scorings to help you see them.
(Hope that made any sense, please remember I'm thinking in swedish and typing in english... )
The bending radius of the shaft isn't great, so you can only view the walls and valve seats using the 45 degree mirror attachment. Thus you can only see them 'straight from the side' as the mirror extends below the plug threads. If you crank the motor so the valves are lifted it's enough to check if the valves are bent and maybe view the far end of the valve seat, not much more.
Actually, I bought my borescope to check a suspected bent valve and it did that job perfectly, I didn't have to remove the headLast edited by Guest; 02-07-2010, 03:44 PM.
