Sorry It is on my GS1000S engine.
It has a metal clip that goes over it to hold the wire loom that is not in the picture.

That's just a rubber plug. You should be able to pull it out and press in a new one...I think.

Is it at the end of the oil galley?
The second pic with the "River" was only after a couple of seconds!
First noticed it after a trip to Renobruce's a couple days ago.
Cannot seem to find a picture of the part @ Bikebandit.

            Hi,

Not the same bike, but this looks like a similar issue:

            Thank you for your indulgence,

Eric that part is the countershaft LH plug. As Ed says just pull it out. Drill a couple of small holes, a couple of wood screws turned into the rubber and pull it out. Replace with a new one. It sits up against the left hand ball bearing on the countershaft. There is a diagram on '79 GS1000S under Transmission heading on microfiche.

Part # 11 at bottom right of page.

It's a metal press in plug that covers the LH bearing on the transmission main shaft. There's no O ring under there, nor an oil gallery, just a bearing holding the shaft

The only advise I can give is to pop it out and see why it is leaking. I hate to say it, but it may be a sign of bearing failure. I can't think of any other reason for the oil to pour out like that, other than the shaft suddenly moving laterally

I checked and the plug is about $12

Read my post Eric. The part will only be about $8-10 from Suzuki dealer.

Me??? NEVER! I try to keep them under 10,000 rpm.
So it is the transmission end cap and bearing that I am after?

                      TIA,

You can't change the bearing without splitting the cases. All you need is a new plug.

I'll check the damage, in the morning.
