Speedometer lens fogged up inside
82 750t. How hard is it to get the lens off of my speedo? Does it have to come completely apart? Sometime before I got it moisture or something has got inside it and there's some fogging on the inside of the lens, It looks kinda like condensation but it's dry. I would like to fix it if possible.Tags: None

Hi,
The gauges come up on ebay all the time. Also, here's an article from the "Garage" section of the GSR homepage.
How to get inside your gauges
Get inside those gauges without destroying it.
Maybe it will help you.
Thank you for your indulgence,

An easier way to get inside the gauges is to use a flat blade screwdriver to pry the bezel open. Work slow and go a little at a time. To close the gauge back up use a hammer and drift punch. You won't be able to tell from the front if you do a careful job.

Finally a clue, THANKS Mr Ness!
I thought it was hopeless, now I can lube the mechanism and put those loose screws back into the gage face of my tach and speedo.
Thanks!

Once you get the bezel out and cleaned off, apply a few good coats of shaving cream and rub it in a bit then wipe off ( on the inside face ) and this will be an anti fogging agent for the future. Try it on the mirror in the bathroom next time you take a shower and youll see what i mean.. wipe half with cream and leave the other half untouched.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.
