    Difference in a GS1150ES vs GS1150E

Any difference in the 84' GS1150ES vs 84 GS1150E regarding parts?
My ES has the fairing and side panels vs GS1150E. Is that the only difference? I found a 4-1 pipe for the GS1150E , just wondering any difference beside the fairing.

    Thanks,
    Alan

That would be the bulk of the difference. Frame, drive train, and everything else will be the same.

If I remember right, I think the handlebars are a different height.

Yes they are, the E uses a taller bar.

The E was unfaired, the ES was faired. They are both D models, the D just means they are 1983 models.

thanks Billy you're a diamond. Sorry to ask a daft question, but that's cleared up some earache I've had. I'm a little blind beyond 1981 tbh. And before it now i think.. Cars, I'm ok from about 1968 till about 1979, but just the models, not colours or engines or owt.

                thanks

And if my memory is right, there is a difference in the gauge cluster between the faired and un-faired models.

Guage cluster is the same, guage cluster mounting is different. ES model guages mount to the fairing.

Yup, the D model (83) ES has a rectangular gauge cluster identical to the 750/700ES, other than it has a couple more idiot lights and an LCD gear indicator instead of a lit background light. The D model E has the large cluster with the round gauges in a trapezoidal arrangement. Also, the ES came with superbike-type handlebars, and the E had bars with more rise and pullback.

The '84 1150 models use the same gauge pods.
