I use a brew of 1/3 water , 1/3 truck wash and 1/3 kerosene and a bucket of elbow grease . Spray it on with an atomiser spray , leave it for half an hour ( or 2 beers ) , scrub like hell with a bannister brush and hose off with a garden hose . Cheers , Simon .

i have been running that idea w/ baking sode alot. there's 2 things that comcern me: 1) will eat wires? (of course don't hang to long on them) 2) this is my main concern.. after u get all that crud and junk off, also the old clear coat(if there is any) do i need to replace it? the clear coat.. or maybe paint it. cuz now u have bare metal.. i want to use this technic to repaint my brake calipers. i figuire if it works on the engine why not everything else?

Well I tried the lacquer thinner and it worked extremely well. Took stuff off that I thought might of been semi-permanent (the baked on oil leaks from years gone by...).

          Thanks again guys...
