      Will he need all the drive line parts too? Drive shaft, U-joint, etc?

        There were no 1100 shafties in 79.
        1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.
        1985 GS1150ES stock with 85 Red E bodywork.

                  I'll bet he has a 79 gs1000 that's been bored to an 1100, or maybe a Yamaha XS 1100. Neither would work in the GS850. Just my opinion

                    Hi,

                    I've been told the GS1000G motors will fit the GS850 frames, but you have to keep the driveline with the motor. I'm pretty sure the two bikes use the same frame.

                      Im sorry I was not sure what the biggest engine was that was made as a shafty in 79. My question is will the biggest 79 shafty fit in my 79 850 frame??
