GS650G Katana exhausts. Which will fit?

    Hi.

I am the owner of a GS650G Katana from 82 with original pipes (the black ones).

The were quite rosty and I did a couple of holes on them. Know, the noise is awesome but I want to start looking for a pair of cheap exhaust to exchange the actual ones.

here in Switzerland is no easy to find any GS parts. Which used exhaust (if possible with a similar look) will fit in my katana?

I know that I can buy new and fancy exhaust but I just need some easy to find used exhaust to fit in my Katana.

    Thanks a lot!!

I'm pretty sure that only 650 pipes will fit due to the header size.

I don't believe you have many exhaust choices for your Katana 650. Mac (USA) probably makes a 4 into 1 for your bike but most people only use them because there are no other options. I don't know of any 4 into 2 black exhaust systems

I think your best bet is see what the Germans make for your Katana. You have a big advantage there you probably understand what the hell they are saying

You will find that 550 exhaust headers will fit. The spacing of the exhaust ports is the same. The header size on the 550 exhaust is a bit smaller where it fits into the port, so the pipes can move around a bit in there until they are tightened up.

I am currently doing a 550 exhaust to fit a 650 head and will show pics and explanation of the conversion when I am finished. Probably in a couple of days. Basically you need GSXR exhaust gaskets, and machined spacers to fit in side the ports.

But I do not know if there are any 550 exhausts that has the look that you want.

That has to be the cleanest Kat 650G I've seen.......Beautiful !!! That is the bike I would like to have next. Sadly, they are very difficult to find here in the States. If I could ever find a nice one, I'd be all over it like ketchup on french fries !!

              I'm quite jealous.

Good GS exhaust systems are hard to find, too bad you ruined your stock pipes by drilling holes into them. I think your best bet at this point is to cut off the mufflers and have some other mufflers welded on using the stock head pipes. As someone has already said, Mac most likely makes something, and you might want to look into Lazer/Jama/Marshall as well if you want a 4:1. http://www.omexperformanceusa.com/im.../56.200608.jpg

Nice bike. I got a Marshall Deeptone 4 into 1 on my bike. Its an 81gs650g and the exhaust is a perfect fit. You should have an easier time getting it as Lazer(the co who owns Marshall now) is located in the Netherlands somewhere. For me it took a looonnnggg time to get it and I paid thru the nose on shipping. The Mac exhausts are junk. That nice of a bike, you gotta put a quality exhaust on it.

+, it has a nice sound!

jeepers creepers ! that's the only katana of any size I ever want right there oh yes.

Here's an old irish pal on his equally clean example

It wasn't the only working example either, and that says a lot for any bike. Proper gs650's rule.
