    Wireharness Question

We have an 82 gs1100gk that we are needing a wire harness for. Someone here offered one up. Figured it can't hurt to try.

Ok, we do not have the farings and all that stuff, so when we bought the bike a while back....before us someone must have rewired it when getting rid of that stuff.

Another guy here brought to my attention that it technically is not a gk anymore, but a g.

So, the guy offering the wire harness says its from an 1100g, so it should work right?

    Thanks!!

Should work fine. There may be a few extra plugs but it shouldn't hurt anything to leave them open.

Changing the harness is not too hard. During the rebuild on one of my bikes I had the harness in and out of the bike several times so I could literally remove and replace the entire harness in only an hour or so. I suggest you take a bunch of photos showing how the harness routes though the bike. You may need these for reference when installing the new harness if you forget.

    Good luck
    Ed

Thanks! Never done this stuff before so we shall see. Figure can't make it any worse than what it is.

Just because the bodywork is removed does not change it from a GK to a G.

There are still some things that are specific to the GK that did not get changed, but they may not be involved in the wiring, so it does not really matter in your case.

When you ask for help the next time, don't say that you have a G, say that you have a GK with the fairing and luggage removed. Depending on what parts you are working on, it could make a difference.

Ok, think I'm going to go for it.

Get the 82 1100g wire harness offered up from someone here and put it on my 82 1100gk.

              One more thing

Take lots of pictures and post them on here so we all can see your progress.

The pictures will also make it easier to get help when you want it.
