    Interchangeable Parts Question Please help!!!!

Hey everyone, I was hoping to get a little help.

I currently hae a 78 GS750. There is a guy who is selling an 83 GS750 about 3 hours away from me. I need to know if I can pull parts from the 83 and use them on my 78. I know the engine is different but thinking:

    Front forks
    Brake Calipers & Master cylinders
    rear shocks
    controls
    rectifiers
    ignition points
    tank
    cam chain tensioner

please and advise will be helpful. I dont want to make a trip if I cant use these parts. Im getting the bike for $300 canadian. There is no key but the guy was in the middle of a restore when he passed away.

    Thank you all in advance.

I don't think any of the parts you list will cross over. For $300 it sounds like a good deal regardless though.

      Thanks Nessism,

sounds good but I dont have any pics, its through a buddy that knows the guy that passed away but my buddy doesnt remember how the bike looks. Im restoring my 78 now but dont want to dump any money into the other bike. I was hoping to use for parts.

They are completely different animals. You may get a nut or bolt to swap, but little else.....maybe the pistons and some handlebar controls......Also it will depend on what models..."E".."L"....

If you can get an '83 750 that's in decent shape for $300, I'd get it.

Ya, thats the only thing, I dont know how good of shape its in. Might be worth to spend the money just to go look at it. about $100 in gas. The guy says his father was restoring it but thats kind of vauge. Thanks for your reply, you guys are helping decide.
