Any ideas as to which motor to use?? The 850 would be cool, just to use the 850 8) ..... but would it be to much power? Let me know what you all think.

Go Kart
I own a GS1100E. A buddy of mine wants to build a go kart with me, and he has a gs550 and a gs850 we can use for motors. We were both thinking the 550 would be the better choice, due to it being lighter. It's going to be an off-road style, probably made from a honda oddessy chasis.

I did make a gocart with a yamaha 175 dirt engine once, no brake though, we needed a clutch pedal.
It was fun.

the Oddessy was a four wheeler with a cage that was made when 3-wheelers were the norm. My mom lived in Alaska and ended up getting 2 of them. I think they do have a minivan called that....

I'd go with the 550, since the 850 is a shaftie.
Tim must be a young'in. Picture the lunar rover that's up on the moon, and you'll have a good idea of what the original Honda Odyssey looked like.
Later on they had a Pilot too.

I've seen go carts with 1100 motors, but they were the flat track variety.
For off-road use, I would go with the 550. Plenty of power. How fast do you want to go? Too fast off-road and you'll end up in the trees! Seriously ->

When a buddy and I were at a local salvage yard this past weekend there was a 4 wheel ATV with a GS650 motor. I didn't get a chance to talk with the owner about the conversion to chain drive and other items of interest. I don't see why you couldn't fab the same for a 650 or 850 cart.
What's too much power (in this group?) - LOL.
