4into1 mod question

i have been looking into getting a new exhaust. i am liking the 4into1. i came across these. the 4into1 v&h pro pipes. i have read they need a chassis mod. what mod is this and is it worth it for the price and being a daily driver?

Bad idea. The "pro" pipe does not have a baffle so the bike will be loud as hell and you will be hated by all the people that have to endure your noise.

If you're considering putting it on your L, don't do it. It's loud and you'll lose your centerstand. Changing the oil and filter will become a chore as well. If possible, try to get an OE system. There's the possibility of just replacing the mufflers with aftermarket ones, with the retention of the exhaust pipes. The performance gains of just slapping on a header are minimal at best. Believe me..... I learned that lesson over 30 years ago. Is there a need for a new exhaust?

This pipe might work, I have one for a shaftie and it is pretty quiet until you get above 5K. Call or e-mail V&H and they should be able to tell you if you can keep the centerstand. On my 81 I kept the centerstand.

there's a small hole in my exhaust. at the end, plus i am looking for a new sound and i am wanting to get the most out of my engine. torque/hp wise w/out doing to many "major" things. i was looking into those pro pipes vs. these. i am also looking at these too. i agree loosing the center stand and relocating the oil dump bolt is something i am not sure if i really want to do, just quite yet. if any of you have any suggestions please throw them at me.

The "X Pipe" has been discussed extensively on these forums before. The price and quirky manner of the pipe's developer put many would be buyers off. At least one member did decide to buy a set and report back on their performance, but I cant recall seeing anything on their results. One other draw back is that the pipes need to be removed at each oil change as the X over blocks access to the drain plug.

i run a propipe on my GS1000 on the street.
I have a baffle in it.
every baffle from a V&H street megaphone work.
I have not touch my frame, but expect brake pedal clearance issue.
The ride is correct except for tight right turn, is a drag pipe and this exhaust drag on right turns.
on the plus side you get a very better ground clearance.

the oil and filter is as easy or easier to change than a stock pipe!

V&H offers very nice baffles that will slip right in and make this pipe whisper quiet!

you will have to atleast modify the rear brake pedal!

you will have to make a fairly long megaphone hanger out of a piece of strap stock.

this is a weekend racer/low cost/low quality chrome pipe for a drag bike but it can be used on a street bike!

how did u get around the brake pedal issue? buy a different pedal? o and ty for the answers. i have looking for quite awhile on what and how the campells x-pipe would be like. i am guessing it's not a good idea for a daily.

Brake pedal can be made from flat stock in a banana shape to go over the peg, like in this picture Most just dent the pipe in the spot where clearance is the issue.

i see. but i have decided to go w/ the x-pipe. mostly for the non-rejetting and gas milage. i have found a new oil plug to use w/ a hose. and i will be posting a video on how they sound and look. for those interested. has for posting result compared to stock. i can't be a good candidate on that one, because my bike was screwed up when i bought it in that manner. the PO before just put straight pods on and no rejet. but for those interested, i will be posting the results here soon. in the next month r so. well hopefully if all goes well.

i just got my pro pipe on u my 81 1100e oil filter is alot easier to get to. i bought a baffle i dont think its to loud. can keep center stand but i still removed mine. i modded my stock brake lever was pretty easy and is not weird looking at all and i had to mod my foot peg a little still looks stock can show pics if anyone is interested.
