    Shimming (TDC Question)

    Hey Everyone,

I just want to know if when shimming the engine do I need to worry about the bike being Top Dead Center, or just concentrate on the location of the Cam lobes. Seems as though my valves are pretty tight so I need to change the shim sizes, just got a little confused after reading something online about makeing sure the engine is TDC when checking the valve clearences.

    THanks for any advise

I just answered that on your other thread about checking valve clearances.

No need to start a new thread.

Did you read the instructions in a factory manual, or a Chilton's, or did you check BassCliffs site for same?

          Hi Mr. GMSKEE,

Ha! I posted a response in your other thread too. I documented one of my valve adjustments with pictures. It might help you. I use the Suzuki factory method to check clearances, just like my friend Mr. Steve.
