    GS1000 Cam Chain tensioner rebuild

I would like to rebuild a GS1000 cam chain tensioners to eliminate the cam chain rattle noise. I reviewed the the detailed tutorial by Bwringer
http://bwringer.com/gs/camchaintens.html and was wondering if these are all the parts I need for a GS1000 cam chain rebuild? I would appreciate your input TIA

Yes, all the parts in that picture are part of the cam chain and its tensioner, but if you have reviewed bwringer's tutorial as you say you have, all the parts needed for a "rebuild" are listed right on the first page.

I have a 79 GS1000 and the cam chain tensioner looks different than the 80 GS850 tensioner. Since the tutorial only states 80's GS models and does not mention late 70's model I thought I would ask. Hope that makes sense now

        Hi SUPER,
I have done up a '77 GS550 and a '82 GS650 and they both used the exact parts listed on the web page by my friend BWRINGER. So I think you will find everything will fit OK. You know Mr Suzuki did not like to change to different/newer parts if he could use the old parts over and over.

Thanks for pointing out that typo -- it says "80s and 80s models" when I meant to say "70s and 80s". I'll fix that in a bit!

But yes, the o-rings, seal, and procedure are the same on your bike, even though your tensioner is angled differently. And these parts don't appear on most fiches, which is partly why I created the page.

The only part that's different between models is the gasket at the base of the tensioner, #21 in the diagram.

Bwringer/ Suzuki Don, Thanks for the research and detailed information. I will order up the parts, rebuild my original cam chain tensioner and finally understand how that thing works on the inside

If for some reason you're ordering the parts from a place which won't let you order "blind" by part number, I believe all the parts you need (save the gasket - find that on your specific model's cam chain fiche) are on the 84 GS1150E cam chain tensioner fiche.

+1 same parts for my 82GS550L, too
