just a product question.
i have been looking into some different products. Z-Max= claims that it can clean everything in your engine and improve hp and fuel economy. has anyone ever used this stuff? if so what was the results? also i have been looking into lucas products. i have the same questions. have you used it and what was the reusults? also can these products be used w/ synthetics? thanks for asnwering.Tags: None

Seriously though brother, these questions have been asked a Gazillion Bazillion Kajillion times on here. Not busting your balls, im just suggesting that using the "SEARCH" button up there on the top of the board can usually answer your questions about fuel and oil additives, which brand of tires are better, what oil is best, yadda yadda yadda.. again, not trying to be a jerk at all.
But, to answer your question:
These bikes were mostly built when UNLEADED was a new fangled gasoline.. 87 Octain was considered JET FUEL, and snake oils like you're speaking of hadnt even been thought of. The motors were never designed to take such things. Simple oil and gasoline was all that was required. In fact, there are parts in your motor that will absolutely REVOLT if you put certain additives or other such oddities in them. The clutch will IMMEDIATELY start slipping if you put modern, eco friendly car oils in them (Synthetics are fine, but seriously, its a waste of money, Shell Rotella 15W40 works absolutely FANTASTIC, and the bikes LOVE IT, and if you really want synthetic, stick to Royal Purple, or Rotella 5w synthetic, its fairly cheap) The ONLY additive that pretty much ANYONE here would EVER suggest putting in your crank case (oil) is SEAFOAM, and even then, there are those who suggest that it may not be a good idea depending on what model you own, etc. Seafoam in your tank ( a capfull every couple tanks) will help keep varnishing in the carbs down, and might help keep carbon buildup on the valves down. But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dont put any other hoodoo hocuss pocuss, instant horsepressure miracle sauce in your bike... PLEASE..

Regarding using this kind of stuff in general, as Josh said, it's pretty much a waste other than other than maybe a little in the gas tank on occasion. Definitely not something you need do to on a regular basis.Ed
