Squeaking rear drum brake - GS750TZ

I recently fitted new shoes in the rear drum brake. This is something I've done successfully before. Everything was OK for the first 40 miles or so but, since then, I've started getting a squeal when I brake. It doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes it happens when I brake gently and then disappears when I brake harder. Other times it just happens anyway. Then again, sometimes it doesn't happen at all.
Have I somehow installed the shoes wrongly or is this just one of those things that I have to put up with/might go away by itself?

You might try pulling the shoes out and lightly sanding them. They might have gotten glazed somewhat.

I would pull the brakes and take a look. Did you lightly sand the drum surfaces to remove any glazing? Make sure the shoes don't have any grease/oil on them and check the shoe position, having them backwards leads to NO brakes quickly.

Bother, no I didn't sand the drum surfaces. I HATE taking the rear wheel off.

        Thanks
