Can someone tell me why I'm leaking gas from everywhere?

1982 GS650E (chain)

I recently had to take everything apart to change a broken gear. I did not do any work to the carb, but it was sitting (off the bike) for about a month while I worked on the crankcase.
I have had it back together for a few weeks and have not had any problems.
Today I took it for a longer ride and got stuck in traffic. The bike worked pretty hard today in 100 degree weather. Hard enough to notice a bit of a leak around the head gasket.
I parked it, went back out about five minutes later and it was leaking gas like crazy. From one of the air hoses that sits on top of the air box and from the (overflow hose?) hose that gets routed behind the engine almost to the ground.
It completely drained the tank.

Does anyone have any help for me .... Please?

If you had your petcock in the run position, you have 2 problems- a bad petcock and a float that is leaking by. Check your oil because it is more than likely gas diluted. Check your petcock for proper operation, pull your carbs and check the floats/needles, and do an oil & filter change.
Oh, and wash out and reoil your air filter.

I rebuilt the petcock and had it in the res position. When you say to check my float, would that require a rebuild kit?
Also, would there be any other symtoms?

Petcock should always be left in the on position so that it in theory it is off when the engine is not running. You shouldn't need rebuild kits, just clean the needle and seat assembly. CHANGE THE OIL and check the operation of the petcock

Change the filter, too.

What would either one of those two things have to do with leaking from the overflow hose? It's not connected to the petcock or the carb?

overflow

the overflow is when you have to much gas going into the carbs and it needs to go somewhere well better then in the engine it goes out the overflow so if your petcock is ok then it sounds like you have a je t stuck or your floats in the float bowl of your carbs located at the bottom are stuck or need adjusting if you droped it by accident that could have done it as long as you take the float bowl off slowly and easly you dont need a rebuild kit but if you do it too quick yes you will need one cause you will rip the gasket

I meant the overflow from the right side of the tank (the one connected to that sensor). Thanks to all for the advice, I think I'll start on it tomorrow.
