750 runs on 3 cylinders above idle

My 83 GS750e was sitting for a while with fuel stabilizer and carbs drained, and developed this problem. It idles beautifully, but when running under load at over 3,000 rpm or so it seems to run on three cylinders. The plug in cylinder 4 is black, oily, and smells of gas. It shows a good white spark when cranked. All the plugs are evenly gapped at .025 iirc. I'd appreciate any advice on what to look at next.

I should also mention that the air cleaner looks and smells gassy as well.

I have a simular problem, only I am getting fuel spill/drip on the outside of the #2 Carb. I haven't pulled it apart yet to see what is up. Maybe this weekend!

jm, sounds like you're in need of a carb pull and clean session.
whodatpat, check your petcock for a busted diaphragm. #2 is what feeds vacuum to the petcock.

also check the induction "O" rings between that carb and its cylinder. You may be pulling too much air into the cylinder.
