    Air shock "equalizer"?

    Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know if there is a hose or some device that can connect to the front shocks on my 1982 GS1100L so that the pressure in both tubes is equal and has only one fitting to fill/check the air?

I seem to remember something like this years ago but I can't seem to find one.

Also, do those of you that have these shocks use a special gauge to check the pressure?

    TIA.

    Try earlier post

Hi. We happened to deal with a similar issue a little earlier. See what you can learn from the "Air Forks" post from a few days ago. You'll see that I was endorsing the pump/gauge manufactured by Progressive Suspension that is made for this purpose. My '81 1100E has an original equipment balancer tube between the forks (I don't think this would be suitable for retrofitting), but this pump/gauge is so accurate and easy to use that I would be confident filling the legs independently. Of course, I'm pleased to say that my 21-year-old fork seals don't leak! I put a piece of 2x4 (that I cut to length for that purpose) under the engine while the bike is on the centerstand, then it is literally a two minute job to check pressure/add air. Good luck.

If you can find the proper pump that may be easier. Otherwise, try a car accessory place that deals in rear air shocks for cars. Car air shocks are linked, so the fittings may be similar. I suspect the bike specific kit I bought many years ago was some car bits put together.

denniskirk has a air fork kit and it looks like it has 1 valve to fill in the air.

          This guy sells kits

This fellow sells a homebuilt setup that fits my XT225. I remember it being really inexpensive. There's a photo here and an e-mail link: http://www.angelfire.com/sports/serowpages/#suspension

            Air shock "equalizer"?

Thanx Everyone! The Progressive Mini Gauge Pump looks like a good answer.

Dennis Kirk has it and I beleive that the JC Whitney Motorcycle catalog does too.
