    Another quick carb question

I am still in the process of tearing my carbs apart and noticed that where my air screw should be is a solid piece. Is there some kind of cap that needs to be removed? Per the carb section on this web site it states to just remove the screw, but I don't see it. It looks as though there may be some kind of plug covering the screw, but the instructions here don't mention such a thing.

    ??????

    Thanks
    Curt

yes it is a cap and all 4 caps need to be removed. take a drill with a 3/32 bit and GENTLY drill through the cap. stop imediatly and don't go any further. (use a new sharp drill bit so the bit will actually cut and you won't have to push hard) now take a screw something with a tip and course threads, screw that in just enough to have it bite, now pull the screw upward while screwed in. the cap it should come out, just throw the caps away.

      Drill.... Screw.... and pull...

Drill it. Sheet metal screw it. And pull it out. Then chuck em.

You have about 1/8 inch before you hit the screw with the drill bit so dont push hard. Count the # of turns to bottom out the screws. That way you can remember how far to back each one out.

When you have them bottomed out make sure the threads are clean before you back them out. They can be tough the first time. Some have suggested the factory uses thread lock. You may even need penatrating oil to get them to move when bottoming them out.

        Where are you?

Just wondering. Where are you at? Fill out your profile. If someone finds out they are your neighbor they may offer you a hand.

Fill the hole with penatrating oil , Heat the carbs up with hair dryer ?? small propane torch (DON'T get carried away) in the area of the screw, Do this several time to allow the screws to come out easier. Otherwise they may strip or not come out.

            Torch on the carbs?

Torch on the carbs? If you go neer your carbs with a torch you have already gotten carried away. What once was part of your carb body will soon be driping slag. Heat gun, or hair dryer maybee. I don't want to get on someones bad side. If you have tried it and it worked thats fine. It just seems a bit much to me.
