Idle Problem
I finally got the rebuilt carbs on, The ignition problem is solved, Now I get it started up, first time of the day it goes up to high RPM til it gets warmed up, goes to slow idle with some adjusting the idle control, when I throttle up it takes a while for it to get back down to idle. I checked for airleaks at connections and vacuum lines. I did notice the when the petcock is on prime I have this problem, when I switch it to on it seems to run fine, But I found that when it is on normal, fuel doesn't flow, only on prime., can someone help me out??????????????????????????

the vaccume part of your petcock needs to be rebuilt, or the hose going to the petcock (from the carbs) is not connected.

The hose is connencted, I can see how the petcock needs to be rebuilt, But would that being bad affect the idling when set to on or prime??? That seems to be whats happening, I'm fairly new to bikes so I don't know if thats a real possibility.. Second is rebuild kit or whole new petcock!!!!!!!!!

guess
My guess is that it's running very lean. Check your plugs to see if they're white and ashen in color. If so, individually adjust your air screws and I'll bet that will solve your problem. :?1980 GS1100E....Number 15!
