Gas Tank Logo Issues:Quick Responses Appreciated!

I would like to repaint the Suzuki logo that is bolted onto the gas tank of my '83 GS1100L. I don't know if its possible to remove the logo without causing an opening into the tank, or losing some kind of retainer (nut, locknut, etc) on the inside of the tank.
In other words, can I just unscrew the logo from the tank without causing harm, or will I cause a patency into the tank, or lose a retainer inside the tank?
Any knowledgable, quick replies are appreciated, as it would be ideal for me do get this project done today (my time off is at a premium!).
    Thanks!

Yes you can teake it of without losing a nut. The badge screws into the tank itself.

It will unscrew without a problem. the screws are real tiny, so be careful you dont lose them, they are hard to find if you do. I used model paint to re-do mine, and seems to work good. Hope that helps.

Be sure to use a good fitting screwdriver. They can be tight and the heads easily stripped.
And on the seventh day, after resting from all that he had done,God went for a ride on his GS!
Upon seeing that it was good, he went out again on his ZX14! But just a little bit faster!

I took mine off and filed in the holes with body putty before I painted it. Looks nice without the emblem.

When the tank was molded, a small depression /indentation was made, and a steel insert was welded into the depression. That is what supports the retaining bolts.

Place a clean sheet under the tank and/or use a magnet when removing/installing the tiny bolts, to ensure they don't get lost.
