Ron Ayers, shipping to Canada

Has anybody had their goods shipped to Canada? Their prices are very good assuming that they don't substitute aftermarket parts for their OEM part numbers. When compared to my local prices it looks like I would be saving 30-40% before taxes, shipping, etc. What should I expect to pay to get 120$ worth of parts through customs? And how long does it take them to put together an order in most cases?

Also, what's up with their ridiculous parts search feature? I had to track through 11 numbers to get the current gasket set for my bike. What makes matters more confusing is that they had prices for older kits which where supposed to be discontinued. The price started at 82$ and went up to 156$ by the end of my trek. :? Even though the parts are discontinued does the price indicate that they are still in stock?

Just received a new petcock assembly from BikeBandit.com for my 83 GS750, fed-exed to my door and no hassles with customs. Maybe the $69 US price slips underthe customs horizon. But then I'm in southern Ontario....

Wow, I know UPS charges something like 50$ just to cary a letter over the border. I was afraid I would have to go with US mail.

Soon you will get a bill for the broker fees and gst from customs.

I ordered a new windscreen last winter ($100 Canadian) and the fees were around $20 I think.

There is no duty on used bike parts. When I buy from ebay I ask the seller to put a low value on the parts and to mark the box with "used bike parts" to keep costs down. I think the fees work off of a % of total value.

I bought my rear Metzler from Ron Ayers and have nothing but praise for their deals. They had a flat price within USA of $8.00 with Fed Ex Ground.

To Canada, they charged me $16.

I got my new tire delivered to my house for less than half the price it would have cost me to buy it in Canada.

okay, I made a few phonecalls and here's what I found out. I can't be held legally responsible for this info as none of it was given to me in writing...

Canada Customs and Revenue says there isn't any duty on motorcycle parts, PST and GST do apply in this case.

Ron Ayers said that Canadian shipping prices are simply double the price shown on their website. They also said that the discontinued parts that still have prices are not available. They do not ship via the regular postal service either.

FedEx said that there is no brokerage fee for Express service but Ground service would cost 35CDN for 200USD in parts.

The Fed Ex idea is a truly great one, Steve!

UPS INVARIABLY assigns a brokerage fee....even on items worth $10, where there is no possibility of duty and/or taxes.


If the value is under CA$20. Customs ignores it completely.

Steve I was quoted over 1200 $ from a Vancouver parts dealer. The same parts from Ron Ayers ended up being just over 400$ including tax and shipping. Some of the parts were on back order and that was inconvenient...but not 800 $ inconvenient.

They parts were the right parts, and they came right to the door. I would say go for it.
