Where do you mount the air shifter rod on the shifter lever

Got my DOT C02 air shifter the other day and starting the installation and would like to know where to attached the rod to the shifter lever. Currently I'm using a 5 inch GS750 shifter lever that is pointed backwards toward the rear wheel. To shift into a higher gear you have to push down on the shifter. I'm thinking maybe half way or in the middle of the shifter lever.

    Thanks
    Jake

I mounted mine about 2" from the gear change shaft.

Generally, you weld a triangle-shaped piece of steel onto the bottom or top of the shifter (depending on where you want to mount your cylinder). You then weld the mounting bracket of the cylinder to the frame, making sure that the cylinder is in mid-travel when at rest. I have a picture at the bottom of the 4 general layouts. Sorry the picture is so small. Make sure that you disconnect the bike's battery and CDI when welding on the frame.

Thanks for the tips, I was worried about the power of the air shifter bending the shift forks inside the transmission with it mounted to far out on the lever.
