    Fork tube leak.

One of my fork tubes is leaking, and I was planning to ride my bike to my parents this weekend. It is approximately a 600 mile round trip. It will most likely be the last descent ride I get this season. temps are suppose to range between high 40's and 60's. And mostly sunny. Will it damage the bike to ride with the leaky seal, or just the ride? I plan to rebuild the forks, but not until I can't ride at all due to weather.

    Thanks,
    Billy Miles

It shouldn't damage the forks but the oil leaking onto your brake pads could be a reason for concern. But, only if you want to stop, it shouldn't affect going.

If it's leaking bad, tie a rag around it. This will keep the oil from dripping down the fork, or blowing back on the engine. Won't hurt a thing.

Ride on...you should be fine unless it is dumping fluid (which I doubt you had a catastropic failure).
