Hey Zot
Come on get with it do it your self. It is not that difficult even if you have little motorcycle experience. not many places will touch the older bikes without charging plenty of cash. Rejetting the carbs is simple and syncing them will cost you about $100 at any shop heck it needs only minimal equipment u can purchase and u will be able to keep your bike in top notch condition.
good Luck ! feel free to e-mail me for more details. I will be happy to guide you in the processe and i will u the specs if u wish to perform this task urself.
Regards, Archie

As for jetting, that can be a lot of trial and error. However, if you tell us exactly what bike you have and what engine mod's, we may be able to help you with the jetting. Someone here may have the same bike/mod's to fix you up. Might be worth a try. Of course, you need to have basic abilities to get to the carbs and then work on them. A good manual, preferably a factory shop manual is necessary.
A typical jet kit is around $125. So for about $160 and a manual, you can do it yourself. If you do go to a shop, be aware that they will sometimes simply install the jet kit using the kit makers "base settings". These base settings are frequently way off, causing severe mixture problems. If they actually test and get the jetting right, it may cost you several hours @ $60/hr or so? Just don't always trust what they say. Take plug reads to determine if the jetting is right.
Some shops have Dyno's, but the charges can vary a lot.And on the seventh day, after resting from all that he had done,God went for a ride on his GS!
Upon seeing that it was good, he went out again on his ZX14! But just a little bit faster!
