Is this really a gs750E?

When I bought my bike, the guy said it was a 1980gs750e, but I think the Es had rectangular headlights?My serial #:GS75x507015-definitely 1980, but I think has some L characteristics:
Round headlight
Mag wheels
Dual disc front, disc back
Arouind 2.5 gal tank
Can anyone out there help me figure out what the heck it is? Just so I make sure I get the right parts, etc.

A picture would help with identifying.
does it have a stepped seat and a crome rear finder?
Have you tried looking at the pictures in the gallery and comparing yours to the ones there?

Well, I know for sure that the 79 EN and 82 TZ had round headlights. couldnt say about an 80 model though.
1980 models were GS750ET and GS750LT.
I believe the LT would have the mag wheels and dual front disks.
Oddly though, my info shows fuel tank capacity for all 750's to be aprox 4 to 4.7 gallons depending on year. My 79 EN holds 4.7 gal.

Thanks for info. Past history is sketchy, and I found out it was salvage titled, so could have been just not registered for a bit or rebuilt before. Anyway, has chrome front fender and black plastic form fittedcowl kindof back fender with a rectangular brake light.
The gas tank may be larger-could be the fuel guage is not right. Didn't want to test that hypothesis while travelling!
The front end may be different because the speedo is ripping all over the place then settles to a pulsing of20mph diffence when I am keeping steady.

It's a GS750LT. The key here is the round headlight. The other 1980 model, the 'E', has a rectangular headlight.

Frank is Correct......I also would know since I also own a GS750E(1980) But both are Great bikes

Thanks for the info guys. My Clymer has a few different things for the L model, so it helps to know. Now that I've made it into a cafe bike, what should I call it ags750XLTC?

BTW, L model fuel tank capacity in Clymer is 3.4 gal, so it is even more likely an L

Depends between which cafe's you race, but 750XTC would look great on the fairing 8) .

Gas tank volume

I have the original owner's manual for my totally stock l980 GS750L. The gas tank volume is 4.0 U.S. gallons.

Hmmnn, gs750xtc would definitely look good (and mysterious), John. When I get a small fairing, I think I'll do that! It would be ecstacy (XTC) 8)
