Progressive springs

I want to get the Progressive shocks and springs. this is for 82 GS11E. what spring rate do i get?

1. 95/140 Black Springs for 412/12 Series Shocks, or

2. 105/150 Black Springs for 412/12 Series Shocks?

i ride solo 95% of the time, few passengers.

What do you weigh?
How do you ride?
What is more important to you - a nice smooth ride or better control when going fast?
If cornering clearance is an issue (if you put 17" wheels on for instance), consider getting the shocks over length from the stock 13". I have a buddy who has 14.5" shocks on his 82 Katana 1100 and it has no stability issues, but much better bump and cornering clearance.

Lots to consider as stated.

I ride a GS1000S, 1980.

I put on Progressives in the rear 2 years ago.
I'm a big person, about 275lbs. My wife rides with me about 1/2 the time.
I opted for 170 lbs springs. They were special order. Not really, put you have to ask for heavier springs.
No handling problems,no harsh ride. I ride hard.
I usually have them set on the lowest or second setting. With my wife the second, once on the third, she said it was to harsh. I thought it felt planted.

Again, get a spring to match your weight and passneger.
Going a little long is ok.
Little is a relative term.

What about the front end?
I'm waiting for parts for my front end. Progressive springs again.

thanks guys, i weigh about 200, and only ride fairly aggressive some of the time, just to be safe i'm thinking about the 150's, and the front springs are next. what does the first number mean?

Compression rates.

For the first half of it's sompression it takes 105lbs to compress.
The second half requires more pressure.

They use dual rate springs. It's how the spring is wound.

Mine are 170/210. Lots of compression/weight.

Plus they are re-buildable.
I got the black ones just to make it look cool.
