A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

i've got a couple of questions i was hoping the good gs folk could help me with. so, i removed the airbox and carbs this weekend to work on some intake issues i've been having. realized that the intake leak is from a broken intake pipe, so i put the carbs and the airbox back on. now my bike seems to have lost a ton of midrange power. now, the questions: could i have knocked the carbs out of synch by removing them and putting them back on? also, i did all the work outside, so would it be more likely some dirt managed to get inside the carbs and plug up the jets? finally, is there a way to synch the carbs w/o buying a reserve tank (i.e. anyone know how to build a cheap reserve tank that'll feed the carbs gas ?) thanks a million

no.

however, you may have knocked some 'junk' free...which can clog things. if you can remove them, take off the bowls and spray out the inerds of the carbs with some carb cleaner.

as for a 'remote tank', get bench or tall chair, and find a hose from a hardware store that fits your petcock. run that 'remotely' to your carbs and you should good for syncing.

good advice from AOD! If you keep searching this site you'll find all the info you need to get the job done yourself.

I went to a lawn mower shop and asked for a gas tank off of a beatup old lawn mower that had the right size outlet on it. I use a bungie cord to hold it between the handlebars while I'm syncing them.

I went to the hardware store and bought 6 feet of 5/16" vinyl tubing. I remove the gas tank and sit it beside the bike on a stool that puts the bottom
of the gastank about 6 inches above the carbs. Connect the vinyl tubing and turn the petcock to prime.
