Oil Cooler for 1978/1979 GS 1000E
I would like to install an oil cooler on my GS1000 but am not sure of where to connect it to the engine. Any advice or info would be appreciated.Tags: None

The GS1000/850/750/ ALL of the two valve motors require an adapter that replaces the oil pressure switch adapter on the back of the motor near the cam chain tensioner. DO a search in the preformance section,

Lynn is correct.
I have a 78 GS1000. What you need is an adaptor like in the post. What it does is divert the oil up through the cooler and back down again to continue through the motor. I have a Yoshimura adaptor that looks similar to the one Terry does. It diverts all the oil through the cooler, which provides better cooling and maintains oil flow and pressure. I would be wary of adaptors that go from behind the motor and then go to the filter cover as that would divert oil from going through the motor.
