Oil Cooler for 1978/1979 GS 1000E

I would like to install an oil cooler on my GS1000 but am not sure of where to connect it to the engine. Any advice or info would be appreciated.

Most aftermarket oil coolers come with an adapter that replaces your oil filter cover.

I've got one on my GS1100E I'll go take a picture of it and put it on my MSN web site. In about an hour.

The GS1000/850/750/ ALL of the two valve motors require an adapter that replaces the oil pressure switch adapter on the back of the motor near the cam chain tensioner. DO a search in the preformance section,

              Lynn is correct.

I have a 78 GS1000. What you need is an adaptor like in the post. What it does is divert the oil up through the cooler and back down again to continue through the motor. I have a Yoshimura adaptor that looks similar to the one Terry does. It diverts all the oil through the cooler, which provides better cooling and maintains oil flow and pressure. I would be wary of adaptors that go from behind the motor and then go to the filter cover as that would divert oil from going through the motor.
