    Fuel screw...I think?

OK I looked all over the forum but couldnt find what i needed. I have a 1977 GS750 and I wanted to reajust the fuel screws but i dont know what to do. Are they the screws that can be adjusted when the cars are all put together, the ones on the bottom of the carbs. The manual i have says not to ajust them because it could totatly screw me up. My bike runs great with the choke on but with it off it doesnt have as much power and it backfires sometimes. Any suggestions
    thanks

I'm not sure on the 750 but a lot of mikuni carbs have a plug that needs to be removed to get to the fuel screw. To remove the plug you drill a hole through the plug being careful not drill into the head of the screw. Then use a dry wall screw to pull the plug out.

That being said. What has changed with your bike since it was "Running Great" as stated in your signature?

It runs great but just only when the choke is on. my carbs dont have that boot, so its ok to mess with it?

The fuel screw is the one underside usually set anywhere from 3/4 to 1 1/2 turns out for stock bike The air screw on the side of the carb 1 1/2 -2 1/2 NO plug to remove that is for later type carbs If you have pods YOU need to rejet the carb to get it to run right I would go up at least 3 jet sizes and maybe raise the needle a notch Check this thread

Could be that your bike may have old fuel or might have just sat too long which gums up the jets. Either a carb clening is in order or at the very least run some Fuel injector cleaner thru it. It dosen't take much to clog up those tiny pilot jets and cause it run lean and backfire. My 1100 will do that when it hasen't been run enough... like most of the winter.

Has the bike been rejetted for the 4-1 and pods or are the jets stock sized? 102.5 main jets I believe.
