Alternatives to points

I use a newtronic ignition, very good (I am non US or UK), plus you get local backup. I recently had a coil go, which took part of the ignition with it. I was able to, after asking the very helpful tech at newtronics, to fix it for less than $10. The newtronics are the same as the old piranas, so have been proven for many years.

Did you replace with the same or did you find an alternative?

I've found out that the CB500 coil has similar spec as the GS400

I got a Electronic Ignition kit from Newtronic Systems LTD, for my GS425. It is a really nice kit and I am going to write a full review of it for my website. It is a plug in unit that works with the factory ignition coils. Very nice setup including evertthing that you need to install.
