Progress report - Carbs installed and functioning!

    Greetings all,

I finally got the carbs installed and the inline shutoff
valve in place with no more leaks. I shimmed up the tube with another hose then inserted them both into the fuel hose
going to the carbs and tank. It works great!
Here are some photos of the bike and the carbs.
Also some of the new fuel line.
I may change the way it is routed or brace the line
    so that it doesn't kink.

All 4 carbs are getting gas to them. I checked at the drain plugs after priming them for 30 seconds like you all said.

In this photo you can see that I've removed the mirrors in anticipation of the arrival of my bar-end mirrors.

nice looking bike, but a word of warning, i had those same pod filters and a stg3 jet kit and those filters would not let enough air into the motor. the filters would reduce the id size of the carb and cause air flow issues. so if you notice your bike choking out in higher rpms 6500-10,000 pull the filters and try running it with out and see if the prob goes away.

        I'll keep that in mind.
It seems to me that if its choking out in the upper rpm due to lack of air, the solution would be to maybe enlargen the holes in the filter some.
But I'll have to see and let you know. They're the emgo filters.

        Thanks,

          Congrats Detman!
As for those filters, Ryan is right, you are almost for sure not going to like them. I would encourage you to start hunting down a set of K&N's awhile.

Crud, wish I'd have know that before i bought them.
The emgo's were encouraged here when I was doing research.
And I just saw a k&n set go on ebay for 20 bucks too. :x

Ah well, I'll just mod these and be done with it.

don't do anything untill you try them. what happens with the filters is they have a inner lip that crowds the carb opening and physicly restrics the air allowed to get inside. you can cut the element off and you will still have problems because the problem is with the boots.

k and n use a velocity stack type induction that allows the air to flow better.

but hopefully you will be ok with what you have.

              good luck
