    GS1100 and GS1150 temperature probe location

    Where is the oil temperature probe fitted on those bikes that have them from the factory?

    on my S for the oil temp guage, it's right behind the cylinder heads.
    As you're sitting on the bike, towards the right side.

    22mm? nut, mine has the leads off it for the temp guage.

        The oil pressure & oil temp. comes off the same part, just under the cam chain tensioner. one wire connects without oil temp. 2 wires connect if you do have oil temp.

          Crude, that is bad news for me. My topend oiler comes off there. I'm considering tapping the oil sump amd putting a probe there. Any one else have this experiance?

            Hi

            I use the the oilsump plug, to take as an outlet for temp sender.
            Drilled a hole in plug and then 10mm tread.Use the original fuel guage as
            meter(between Clocks).Same electric data as GS1000S guage.My fuel guage is in bottom of the big round Clock (right ) (rpm measure)
            As you see I not good in english ::::
            Think You is no good in Norwegian, so dosnt matter..

              Hap the 1150 has two sensors into the block off plate below the camchain tensioner, one works the oil light and the other is a temp probe.

                On my GS450 I installed the temp. sensor instead of the plugg sealing of the hole where the oil pressure are measured. I made a brass adapter M14x1.25 outside - M10x1.0 inside and made sure there were no piece of the sidecover gasket restricting flow.
                The main advantage to this approach is the time it takes to get oil temp readings. The main temp of consern are the temp of the circulating oil, not the heavier oil in the sump, therefore the drain is not an optimal location for measuring.

                  I plan on installing mine this weekend, and I want to put it in place of the chrome plug on the RHS. I took it out last week to look, and seems to have alot of depth before the galley hole gets in danger of getting covered by the probe. :twisted:

                      Hi Hap!

                      Thought I should mention the Yoshimura Temp/voltage meter that I purchased to my bike. A nice little dig. display illuminated and all. The probe is mounted on the right hand oil plug just under the cylinder. Just what I needed since the voltage can be a little this and that on these old ones....and my newly installed Bigblock propably will heat things up. I?m sure it would be quite cost effective for you guys in the states. I paid about 95usd for it here in Sweden and it works very well

                        The oil goes from the sump > pump > filter > pressure-switch>
                        oilgallery >>>> and dripping back to sump.(hot)

                          So on these models there's a different assembly on top of the gearbox with combined pressure/temp senders? The Bike Bandit diagrams aren't very clear.

                          Interchangeable onto an 850?
