I have run a lot of different tires over the years and I tend to put a lot of miles on my bikes so I look for longevity in tires.

I have been really happy with the Metzler 880s and the Dunlop 491 Elite IIs. They both wear well and handle most anything your likely to run into in normal riding.

I had an Avon on the back of my bike when I bought it. It was new, and lasted for one oil change and then it was flat in the middle. I replaaced it with a cheng shin, which has lasted longer. I like the price and since I don't usually scrape the pegs it holds well. The odd time I do lean it over farther than I usually like, it doesn't feel loose. I think that you get the tire you need. If you ride radically, get a softer stickier tire, if you tend to granny along like myself, a higher milage tire will do you fine. 8)
